No classes Monday for 29 schools near Batasan

MANILA, Philippines – The Quezon City schools division has authorized class suspensions in 29 schools located in roads leading to the Batasang Pambansa on  July 23 as President Benigno Aquino III delivers his State of the Nation Address.

In a memorandum handed down Thursday, schools division superintendent Corazon Rubio said the 10 high schools and 19 elementary schools will be allowed to cancel classes “to minimize traffic congestion.”

The affected grade schools are:

  • Commonwealth Elementary School
  • President C. Aquino Elementary School
  • Dona Juana Elementary School
  • Holy Spirit Elementary School
  • Lagro Elementary School
  • North Fairview Elementary School
  • Bagong Silangan Elementary School
  • Culiat Elementary School
  • New Era Elementary School
  • Melencio Castelo Elementary School
  • Payatas B Elementary School
  • Payatas B Elementary School
  • Payatas B Annex Elementary School
  • Lupang Pangako Elementary School
  • San Diego Elementary School
  • Fairview Elementary School
  • Benigno Aquino Elementary School
  • Manuel L. Quezon Elementary School
  • West Fairview Elementary School.

Meanwhile, the affected high schools are: Commonwealth High School, Batasan Hills National High School, Judge Feliciano Belmonte High School, Holy Spirit National High School, Lagro High School, North Fairview High School; Bagong Silangan High School, Culiat High School, New Era High School, and Justice Cecilia Munoz Palma High School.

Rubio added that Saturday classes will be held in the said schools to make up for the class suspension this coming Monday.
