PB forms body to probe why falls dried up

THE Provincial Board will create a committee to investigate why the Mantayupan falls dried up last week in barangay Mantayupan, Barili town in western Cebu.

PB Member Alex Binghay, PB committee chairman on Agriculture, will head the investigation committee.

Binghay, during the PB session last Monday, said that the body would also work with national government agencies which would serve as the body’s resource persons during the investigation.

These agencies include the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in Region 7 and the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) in Region 7.

The probe committee will be composed of PB members.

It will be also co-chaired by other committees on environment, tourism, and peace and order.

Earlier, the PB approved a resolution asking the DENR, MGB and Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) to conduct a separate investigation on the discovered sinkholes in barangay Mantayupan./Correspondent Carmel Loise Matus
