Ninoy Aquino International Airport

MANILA, Philippines—Up to 7,000 umbrellas confiscated from departing passengers at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport were donated Wednesday to students of public schools surrounding NAIA.

“Passengers have six months to claim the items seized from them. All unclaimed items will be disposed of and one way to do it is by donating them to our nearby communities,” said retired Brigadier General Salvador Penaflor, assistant general manager for security.

Umbrellas are among the items banned in carry-on luggage of plane passengers.
