Liza Marcos leads rice aid initiative for Tondo families

MANILA, Philippines — First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos on Tuesday led the second day of the rice aid initiative in Tondo, Manila, where five kilos of rice were distributed to vulnerable families, the Presidential Communications Office said.
The initiative, Mula sa Puso Para sa Pamilya (From the Heart to the Family), funded by the Local Government Support Fund, was part of ongoing efforts to provide immediate relief and support to communities across Metro Manila.
The rice was distributed to 500 beneficiaries, including persons with disabilities, solo parents, and senior citizens.

“As a mother, it is important to us to have food on the table. Even if we cannot eradicate poverty, we hope this little thing will help you in the days to come. Thank you very much for visiting here and — From the Heart to the Family — this is for you,” Marcos said in Filipino.
Manila Department of Social Welfare Director Jay Dela Fuente said the rice aid will be extended to families in Pampanga Street, Sta. Cruz, Manila, on June 25. /mcm
