First lady, sons issue ‘EO’ for Marcos to relax on Father’s Day

MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. may be the head of the nation, but not in his home, especially on Father’s Day.
First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos and their three sons, Sandro, Simon, and Vinny greeted Marcos by issuing an “executive order” (EO) for him to stop working at least for this special day.
“By virtue of our Executive Order, you are hereby directed to rest today!” the First Lady said in her Facebook post on Sunday.
The EO has three “articles,” or rather, instructions for what Marcos should do on Father’s Day: Dad must rest today; no stressful meetings; and dessert is mandatory.

“Whereas, the President tirelessly attends to the affairs of the nation while also fulfilling the responsibilities of fatherhood; therefore, a period of well-deserved rest shall be observed on Father’s Day,” states the first article.
The second article also orders Marcos to defer “all non-essential meetings and stressful discussions.”
“Whereas, every celebration worthy of the Office of the President deserves a sweet ending; therefore, the enjoyment of dessert on Father’s Day shall be considered both appropriate and encouraged,” the third article states.
“Our children may call you pops, the nation may call you Mr. President, but I’m the lucky one who gets to call you mine,” Araneta-Marcos said.
“Thank you for your strength, your patience, your terrible jokes and your big heart,” she added.
In a separate Facebook post, Marcos showed that he had the spoof EO framed and “[proclaimed] it to be applicable to all the busy Dads out there.”
On Monday, the president, who has just returned to Manila from his working visit in Kazan, Russia, is scheduled to personally inspect infrastructure projects in Cebu and Bohol provinces. /das /atm
