BALANGA CITY, Bataan – Pusong Pinoy partylist Rep. Jett Nisay has filed a proposed measure that mandates stringent regulation and safety standards for off-campus events.
In House Bill 9892 or the “Local Off-Campus Activities Safety Act,” there would be mandatory risk assessment and medical screening of students who are joining off-campus activities, and strict parental consent and comprehensive disclosure of requirements imposed by event organizers.

Violators of said law will face a P3 million fine on schools and responsible officials found to have been negligent of their duty.
The proposed bill mandates the filing of appropriate charges against resort owners and tour operators found to have been involved in any accident arising from the off-campus activities.
In a statement, Nisay said he filed the bill amid the alleged accident resulting in the death of two Ateneo rookie athletes and several accidents during off-campus activities in the past. /jpv
