Trillanes says no ICC warrant against Bong Go yet

MANILA, Philippines — Former Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV on Thursday refuted claims by Davao City Rep. Paolo Duterte that an arrest warrant has already been released by the International Criminal Court (ICC) against Sen. Bong Go.

To recall, it was Trillanes who first revealed the ICC arrest warrants against former President Rodrigo Duterte, as well as Sen. Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa.

“Don’t believe Pulong. No ICC warrant has been issued for anyone yet,” said Trillanes in a social media post written in Filipino.

“Should a warrant indeed come out later, he definitely won’t know about it, just like his father didn’t know that he had a warrant,” he added.

Aside from Trillanes, the Department of Interior and Local Government, the Philippine National Police, along with the Department of Justice, have likewise stated that they have yet to receive any information about the alleged warrant.

Bong Go leaves it to a higher being

Meanwhile, Go in response to the ICC warrant rumors said he will simply leave it up to a higher being—all while maintaining that he has never violated any laws.

“I leave everything to God. In my entire life, I have never broken any human law or God’s law,” said Go in a statement.

“Police matters have never been part of my mandate. I hope and pray that the issue regarding the alleged ICC warrant against me will not be politicized,” he added.

He then assured the public that he would continue doing his job as a senator despite the rumors.

While the arrest warrant against Go hasn’t been confirmed yet, a pending warrant was recently released against Dela Rosa — who has been in hiding since the arrest order was made public.

Dela Rosa’s warrant stems from his alleged role in the Duterte administration’s bloody war against drugs, which killed over 6,000 people based on government records, and over 30,000 based on human rights records, including children. /mr
