KITAOTAO, Bukidnon — A resort in Kitaotao, Bukidnon, has temporarily suspended its amusement and adventure operations to conduct a comprehensive safety review following a zipline accident that injured a 25-year-old Indian tourist on June 14.In a statement on Thursday, the Greek Hills Resort said that it will resume operations on Friday for its resort accommodation and dining services.

“This targeted suspension allows our specialized teams to complete the comprehensive safety assessments and system enhancement outlined in our previous statement,” it said.

Last Tuesday evening, the resort management said it had begun an extensive assessment of its safety protocols, operating procedures, and emergency response measures to prevent a similar incident from happening again.

It said the injured guest is now safe, in good condition, and has received appropriate medical treatment.The resort said an independent evaluation has been underway, covering the zipline’s design, maintenance schedules, safety inspections, and staff training.The local government of Kitaotao had issued a cease-and-desist order against the resort while authorities continue investigating the incident.According to Bukidnon police, the tourist plunged nearly 40 feet after a zipline cable snapped as he approached the landing platform at the resort in Barangay Sinuda.Investigators attributed the structural failure to the cable’s age and prolonged use.The victim was initially treated at the German Doctors facility in Buda before being transferred to a hospital in Davao City for further medical care.Greek Hills Resort said it remains committed to maintaining the highest safety standards and will not resume operations until the necessary assessments and corrective measures have been completed./coa
