Cebuano makes it to FEU roster
ANOTHER Cebuano standout is set to make his mark in the UAAP as center Raymar Jose was named to the varsity squad of the Far Eastern University Tamaraws, which is set to do battle in the UAAP season 75 starting July 14 at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Jose, a former all-star while playing for the Arellano University in the NCAA, was recruited by the Cebu Eastern College but failed to play for the Dragons in the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. last year due to some eligibility issues. But Jose played for CEC in other tournaments.
Jose, a 6-foot-5 pivotman, was able to make a good impression on FEU’s Cebuano head coach Bert Flores, who flew in to Cebu several weeks ago to help facilitate the cager’s transfer to the Tamaraws.
Flores confirmed that Jose made it to FEU’s Team A in an interview last Tuesday evening.
“Pwede na ning bataa. Hinog na ni and I believe he will be able to help us with our frontline, especially with the graduation of most of my starting group,” said Flores, who last steered the Tamaraws to the promised land in season 68, during the tail end of the core group that included now PBA stars Arwind Santos and Denok Miranda.
FEU has made it to the finals for the last two seasons, only to falter to the Ateneo Blue Eagles in both tries.
