6.1-magnitude aftershock hits Sarangani – USGS

MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 6.1 aftershock rocked the southern Philippines on Monday, the United States Geological Survey said, hours after a 7.8 earthquake killed at least one person, collapsed buildings and triggered regional tsunami warnings.
The second quake struck at a depth of 67 kilometers (42 miles) about eight kilometers north by northwest of Mindanao island’s Sarangani province, the USGS said.

On the other hand, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) pegged the aftershock to magnitude 6.7 at 8:55 a.m.
Due to the aftershock, the Phivolcs said up to Intensity III (weak) were reported in General Santos City, Davao City, Zamboanga City, and Surallah, South Cotabato.
Phivolcs issued a tsunami warning in nine provinces. /mr
