MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Labor and Employment (Dole) on Sunday reminded employers of the proper payment of wages for employees during regular holidays ahead of the observance of Independence Day on June 12.

“The reminder is in line with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to uphold workers’ rights and ensure that employees receive the wages and benefits due them under the law,” Dole said in a statement.
“It also supports the administration’s efforts to strengthen compliance with labor standards in workplaces,” it added.
Under Labor Advisory No. 11, Series of 2026, employees who work on the regular holiday are entitled to twice, or 200 percent, of their daily wage for the first eight hours of work.
Meanwhile, employees who work beyond eight hours on the holiday are entitled to an additional 30 percent of their hourly rate.
Those whose work schedule coincides with their rest day and who render work on June 12 are entitled to an additional 30 percent of their holiday rate. Overtime work performed on a regular holiday that also falls on a rest day shall likewise be compensated with an additional 30 percent of the employee’s hourly rate on that day.
Workers who do not report for work on June 12 are still entitled to receive their full daily wage, provided they meet the conditions set under existing labor regulations.
Dole also advised workers to contact the department’s Hotline 1349 or visit its official Facebook page for information, guidance, and assistance on labor- and employment-related concerns. /mcm
