Mapfre downs Dosmiltres
MAPFRE INSULAR continued their terrorizing romp of the rest of the league as they defeated Dosmiltres, 89-86, for their ninth win in 10 games in the ongoing University of San Carlos Boys High Alumni Basketball Association (USCBHABA) last Sunday at the USC North Campus gym.
The win allowed Mapfre to remain on top of division 1 as current M. Lhuillier standout Giovanni Padillo scored 21 points in a balanced scoring effort that saw Justin delos Reyes add 20 and Jake Arriesgado chip in 17 markers. Dosmiltres plunged to a 7-3 record, good for third place.
Meanwhile, reigning champion Yayoy’s Grill and Restobar got its seventh win as it ambushed RC Goldmine, 87-71, in a win that saw Cesafi MVP Enrico John Llanto suit up.
Llanto, also a former player for the MLKP-Cebu Niños, managed just 10 markers but it was Rocky Alcoseba, son of Raul “Yayoy” Alcoseba, who led the scoring parade with 20 points.
Cebu Tech Jobs maintained its grip of second place in the standings with a 79-71 win over B95. They now have an 8-2 (win-loss) mark.
