PRC: Over 63,000 pass licensure exam for teachers

MANILA, Philippines — Over 63,000 teachers passed the Licensure Exam for Professional Teachers (LEPT) for elementary and secondary education, the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) said on Tuesday.

According to the PRC, 18,376 elementary teachers out of 32,796 examinees and 45,001 secondary teachers out of 61,561 examinees passed the LEPT.

The PRC noted that of the elementary teacher passers, 15,670 were first-timers and 2,706 were repeaters.

Meanwhile, among secondary education teachers, 39,446 passers were first-timers and 5,555 were repeaters.

Among elementary teacher examinees, six candidates garnered the highest score of 95 percent, namely Ann Kristine Dela Peña Danlag of the University of Southeastern Philippines–Tagum; Jhade Vine Icot of Cebu Technological University–Danao; Lynn Heart Masamayor Luad of Cebu Technological University–Main; Marc Andre Cuizon Saberon of Cebu Technological University–Danao; Princess Willah Malingin Yamahon of Bukidnon State University; and Monette Lucernas Yap of Mindanao State University–General Santos City.

Meanwhile, Rashil Rae Ramos Recorte of Visayas State University–Baybay led the list of topnotchers in secondary education with a score of 95.80 percent.

The PRC also noted that the results of the examination for 58 examinees have been withheld “pending final determination of their liabilities under the rules and regulations governing licensure examinations,” while another two were withheld for “further verification of submitted documents.”
