Tropical Storm ‘Hagupit’ enters PAR, given local name ‘Caloy’

MANILA, Philippines — Tropical Storm with international name “Hagupit” has entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Saturday evening and it was given the local name “Caloy,” the state weather bureau said.

In an advisory, Pagasa said, “[At] 6:00 PM today, Tropical Storm [HAGUPIT] has entered the PAR.”

Caloy is the third tropical cyclone to arrive in the country this year.

Pagasa said tropical cyclone bulletins for Caloy will be issued starting 11 p.m. on Saturday as the storm moves westward over the Philippine Sea.

At 4 p.m., the storm was packing maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour near the center and gusts of up to 80 kph. /apl
