8-hour power interruption scheduled in parts of Oriental Mindoro

CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro — An eight-hour power interruption is scheduled on Sunday, April 26, 2026 in parts of the towns of Socorro and Pola in Oriental Mindoro.
This disruption is meant to allow substation upgrades and maintenance work, the local electric utility announced.
In an advisory, the Oriental Mindoro Electric Cooperative Inc. said the outage will run from 4 a.m. to noon to facilitate the installation of temporary 13.8-kilovolt facilities.
It is also diverting of an existing substation in preparation for a 15-megavolt-ampere (MVA) uprating project.
The scheduled work also includes testing substation equipment, pulling out a defective 5 MVA power transformer for rehabilitation, and installing feeder metering.
Line clearing along backbone facilities and the replacement of rotten poles will likewise be carried out during the downtime.
Areas affected are those under Feeders SO100 and SO200 in the municipalities of Socorro and Pola.
Under Feeder SO100, affected barangays include Bagsok, Bayuin, Calocmoy, Calubayan, Fortuna, Leuteboro 1 and 2, Mabuhay 1 and 2, Malugay, Matungao, Monteverde, Santo Domingo, Subaan, Ma. Concepcion, and portions of Bugtong na Tuog, Pasi I and II, Batong Dalig, Happy Valley, Tagbakin and Matulatula.
Meanwhile, Feeder SO200 covers Batuhan, Bayanan, Calima, Calubasanhon, Campamento, Malibago, Maluanluan, Misong, Pula, Puting Cacao, Panikihan, Pahilahan, Tagumpay, Tuguian, Zones 1 and 2, and Casiligan.
The utility said power may be restored earlier if work is completed ahead of schedule. /apl
