Typhoon Sinlaku may enter PAR, unlikely to make landfall – Pagasa

MANILA, Philippines — A typhoon with international name “Sinlaku” may enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) next week, the state weather bureau said.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) reported on Sunday that Sinlaku will likely enter PAR, but it is unlikely to affect any part of the country’s landmass.
“This storm’s possibility of entering the Philippine Area of Responsibility by late next week is not being ruled out,” Pagasa weather specialist Veronica Torres said during a 5 a.m. weather forecast.

She continued: “The chance of it making landfall on our country’s landmass is low, and we are not seeing any direct impact on any part of the country.”
Sinlaku is 2,745 kilometers east of northeastern Mindanao, outside the PAR.
It is packing maximum sustained winds of 150 kilometers per hour (kph), and gusts of up to 185 kph, as it slowly moves northward.
If Sinlaku enters the PAR, it will be given the local name “Caloy.” /apl
