OIL PRICE WATCH as of April 6, 2026

Even with Iran’s assurance last week of safe passage for Philippine-bound oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz, industry sources said local diesel prices are still expected to surge to as high as P170 per liter this week.
An industry source said the per-liter price of diesel could climb anew by P17 to P19 today, while gasoline could range from P3 to P5 per liter.
These projected hikes are higher than last week’s P4.50 to P12.90 per liter for diesel and P1 to P2.90 per liter for gasoline.

The timing of the anticipated fuel price increases is expected to add pressure on travelers returning from their Holy Week break. Transport operators, on the other hand, will readily feel the price surge as their buses, trucks, jeepneys, and even ships and small boats all use diesel fuel.
Below are the prevailing prices monitored and gathered by the Inquirer team today, Monday, April 6, 2026.
