ILOILO CITY, Philippines — In the silence of the night, devotees accompanied the image of the Sorrowful Mother during the traditional “Soledad” procession in Iloilo City on Good Friday.

Departing from St. Clement’s Church at 10 p.m. after the Santo Entierro, the silent procession serves as a communal act of accompanying the Virgin Mary in her bereavement following the crucifixion of Jesus.

Earlier, bathed in the soft glow of the evening, devotees perform the “du-aw” following the afternoon procession that depict the Passion of Christ.
