Ambush kills Caloocan exec; wife critical

An environment and sanitation official of Caloocan City was killed while his wife was seriously wounded in an ambush Thursday morning.

Bobby Merrera succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds in the head and body, while his wife, Beng, a medical doctor, remained in critical condition in the hospital after taking a bullet in the stomach.

Merrera was travelling with his wife in a government vehicle when two men armed with pistols opened fire on the victims on Narra Street, Bagumbong, at around 10:30 a.m., according to Chief Insp. Ronald Perilla.

Merrera was the officer in charge supervising the operations of garbage trucks and waste disposal systems with private contractors in the northern barangays of Caloocan. Kristine Felisse Mangunay
