1 dead in Quezon motorcycle crash

LUCENA CITY, Quezon – A motorcycle passenger died while the rider was injured after their vehicle skidded on a slippery road early Wednesday, the police said.

According to the Quezon police, the incident occurred at around 1 a.m. along the national road in Barangay 9.

The driver, identified only as “Justine,” 20, reportedly lost control of the motorcycle after it slid on the wet pavement, causing it to crash.

His passenger, “Crizel,” 19, was thrown off the vehicle, sustained injuries, and died at the scene.

Rescuers rushed the injured driver to the Bondoc Peninsula District Hospital for treatment.

Police did not indicate whether or not the riders were wearing helmets, as required under the Motorcycle Helmet Act of 2009. /gsg
