PNP warns public vs AI videos falsely portraying a police officer

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) issued a warning to the public about videos generated by artificial intelligence (AI) that falsely portray a police officer.
“These videos, not only those impersonating police officers but also other misleading content, are created to appear real and can easily spread false information,” the PNP said in a statement on Tuesday.

“We urge the public to verify information from official sources and think twice before sharing. Your cooperation helps protect the integrity of the police and the safety of our communities,” it added.
A snippet of the allegedly AI-generated video, shared by the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG) in a public advisory on social media, showed an unidentified police officer throwing a tantrum at fast-food restaurant workers.
In its statement, the PNP said the ACG is closely monitoring social media for AI-generated content and vowed to charge the sources of the videos once they are traced. /mcm
