Napolcom to help ID cops in alleged beating of celebrity’s driver
MANILA, Philippines – The Makati police officers accused of beating the driver of actress Rhian Ramos will soon be identified with the help of the National Police Commission (Napolcom), the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) said on Thursday.
According to the NBI, the complaint filed by the driver, alias “Totoy”, includes potential administrative charges. He alleged that while detained at the Makati Police Station for a Qualified Theft case, he was taken to a separate room and was beaten up by police officers.

Earlier, the Makati City Police have vowed to aid the NBI in its investigation.
“Nag-offer na po ng assistance ang Napolcom to work on the administrative aspect of the case. Part of the admin aspect is helping out the NBI in identifying among the so many police officers na nakaduty noong panahon na nadetain siya,” NBI Spokesperson Palmer Mallari told reporters.(The Napolcom has offered assistance to work on the administrative aspect of the case. Mallari explained that the Napolcom will provide names and pictures of the officers on duty during Totoy’s detention to help the complainant identify his alleged attackers.

Previously, the Makati City Police Station allowed NBI agents and Totoy to conduct a walkthrough of the station, where the latter identified where he was supposedly taken.
During the visit, the NBI acquired CCTV footage and interviewed several police officers.
The NBI declined to provide further details on their findings as they are still gathering other evidence. / dp
