PH crime rate down 12.4% in 2025 — PNP

MANILA, Philippines — Crime rates across the country dropped by 12.4 percent in 2025, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said Saturday.
In a statement citing data from its Directorate for Investigation and Detective Management, the PNP said it recorded 35,717 incidents of focus crimes in 2025, down from 40,771 in 2024.
Focus crimes include murder, homicide, physical injury, rape, robbery, theft, and carnapping.

The PNP reported fewer incidents of the following crimes:
- Rape – from 9,910 cases in 2024, to 7,662 cases in 2025
- Carnapping of motor vehicles – from 332 cases in 2024, to 265 cases in 2025
- Murder – from 4,151 cases in 2024 to 3,412 cases in 2025
- Homicide – from 1,268 cases in 2024 to 1,078 cases in 2025
- Physical injury – from 5,593 cases in 2024, to 4,811 cases in 2025
- Robbery – from 4,136 cases in 2024 to 3,645 cases in 2025
- Theft – from 13,232 cases in 2024 to 12,662 cases in 2025
