Guadalupe parish embarks on new project
The Archdiocesan Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish in Guadalupe, Cebu City is embarking on a Love project involving the construction of a P1.7-million parish center.
Supported by the parish pastoral council and other church organizations, the project will replace the old structure with a new one.
Msgr. Jose S. Montecillo, parish priest, said the ground floor of the facility will house the offices and conference hall, while the upper floor will be the priests’ quarter.
“The parish deserves this long overdue project, being the prime parish,” said Ricardo de los Reyes, president of the parish pastoral council.
Our Lady of Guadalupe de Cebu parish was established on May 1, 1933. It is named after the miraculous image believed to be the Our Lady of Guadalupe de Mexico brought by Magellan in 1521.
The Vatican’s Congregation for Divine Worship and Discipline of the Sacraments in a pontifical decree dated May 9, 2006, declared Our Lady of Guadalupe de Cebu as the patroness of Cebu.
