Teodoro turns down nomination for Chief Justice post
MANILA, Philippines—Presidential cousin Gilberto C. Teodoro Jr. on Tuesday turned down his nomination for the Chief Justice post.
Teodoro was nominated Monday to replace impeached and unseated Renato Corona as Chief Justice.
Teodoro ran for President in the 2010 elections but lost to his second-cousin President Aquino. He was secretary of national defense from August 2007 to November 2009 during the term of former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. Teodoro topped the 1989 Bar and obtained a master of law degree at Harvard University in Boston.
