Pagasa: Intertropical convergence zone to bring rain to parts of Philippines

MANILA, Philippines – Parts of Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao can expect rains as the intertropical convergence zone continues to affect these areas, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Tuesday.

In its latest weather forecast, Pagasa said Central and Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao would experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thundestorms. Rains will become widespread over the eastern sections and Palawan which may trigger flashfloods and landslides while the rest of Luzon will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rains and thunderstorms.

“Light to moderate winds blowing from the Southeast will prevail over Northern and Central Luzon and coming from the Southwest to Southeast over the rest of the country. The coastal waters throughout the archipelago will be slight to moderate,” Pagasa added.

Meanwhile, a low pressure area was seen 610 kilometers east of Northern Samar, the state-run weather bureau said.
