12-hour brownout set in Albay towns Friday

LEGAZPI CITY – The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) announced on Thursday a scheduled 12-hour power interruption affecting several towns in Albay.
In an advisory, NGCP said that the outage would start at 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Friday, affecting areas under the service of Ligao and Polangui substations.
The interruption is due to NGCP’s scheduled preventive and corrective maintenance on the Daraga-Ligao 69 kilovolt (kV) line.

Meanwhile, Albay Electric Cooperative (Aleco) will also utilize the outage period to conduct parallel activities, including distribution line relocation, pole retrieval near the Polangui substation, replacement of defective pin insulators, and annual preventive maintenance of the Polangui substation.
ALECO, in an advisory, assured the public that power would be restored once the work is completed, without prior notice.
Affected areas covered by the Ligao and Polangui substations were the towns of Guinobatan, Oas, Ligao City, Libon, Polangui, Jovellar, and Pio Duran. (PNA)/coa
