MANILA, Philippines — Vice President Sara Duterte said her father, former president Rodrigo Duterte, was “extremely proud” of her following the archival of her impeachment case.
She clarified, however, that she had not personally discussed the matter with him, as it was her sister, Veronica “Kitty” Duterte, who informed their father about the case.

“That’s what he said, ‘extremely proud,’” Duterte said in Filipino in a chance interview in The Hague, Netherlands, where she visited her father with her siblings.
“We didn’t get to talk during the dismissal of the impeachment case. I think it was Kitty’s visit, and she was the one who gave the news to President Duterte,” she added.

Asked why she and her siblings—Kitty, Davao City Acting Mayor Sebastian Duterte, and Davao Rep. Paolo Duterte—visited their father together, Vice President Sara Duterte said it was at his request.
She added that the visit mainly centered on conversations about their personal lives and future plans.
When asked if they discussed the 2028 elections, Duterte said they did not.
“We did not talk about the 2028 elections,” Duterte said in Filipino.

The Senate voted to archive Vice President Duterte’s impeachment case, following a Supreme Court ruling that declared the complaint against her unconstitutional.
The decision to archive the case was made after senators amended the original motion of Sen. Rodante Marcoleta, who initially sought its dismissal.
However, the House of Representatives has already filed a motion seeking to overturn the high court’s ruling. /mcm
