Senate suspends work, but CA plenary session to proceed

MANILA, Philippines — Senate President Francis Escudero ordered the suspension of work in the upper chamber on August 26 because of the forecast of heavy rainfall due to low pressure area and southwest monsoon.
In an advisory addressed to Senate Secretary Renato Bantug, Escudero also said that the plenary session of the Commission on Appointments shall proceed as scheduled at 10 a.m.

Escudero directed the head of the Maintenance and General Services Bureau (MGSB) to ensure that the presence of personnel necessary and essential in making sure that the Senate Hall shall be ready for the use of the CA to proceed with its mandated duty to constitute itself, pursuant to Article VI, Section 19 of the Constitution.
He added that all other Senate officials and employees need not report for work.
Escudero’s announcement came following the Office of the President’s suspension of work in government offices in Metro Manila and several other provinces. /mr
