DoH thankful to Congress for passage of six tax bill
MANILA, Philippines—The Department of Health (DoH) expressed its gratitude to House of Representatives for approval Wednesday on third reading the passage of the Sin Tax Bill or House Bill 5727, which will increase taxes on liquor and cigarettes, said a report on Radyo Inquirer early Thursday.
Dr. Ivanhoe Escartin, DoH director for health promotions, said they are thankful to Congress and they are hoping the Senate will do the same.
Once it becomes a law, the report said, the present P11.50 tax on one pack of cigarettes will be P12.
