Aurora logs 6 active mpox cases
MABALACAT CITY, Pampanga–The provincial government of Aurora has disclosed that there are six active mpox (formerly known as monkeypox) cases in the coastal province.
In its latest advisory, the provincial health office of Aurora said the confirmed mpox patients include two residents of Maria Aurora town, two in San Luis and one each in Baler and Dipaculao.
It said the patients are in isolation.
“A total of 19 monkeypox cases have been reported since January 1, 2025. Of these, 10 are suspected cases, three are probable cases, and six are confirmed cases. Currently, there are two active suspected and three probable cases,” the health office said.
It said no deaths have so far been reported.
The provincial health office has been advising the public to observe proper hygiene and safety protocols.
These include covering the mouth and nose when coughing and sneezing, ensuring proper ventilation in closed spaces, frequent washing of hands and use of alcohol-based sanitizers, and keeping away from individuals with mpox symptoms.
Symptoms, it said, include skin rash or lesions with fever, swollen lymph nodes, sore throat, muscle aches, back pain, headache and weakness. /gsg
