Revilla votes to convict Corona

MANILA, Philippines – Senator-judge Ramon Revilla Jr. put the first nail on the coffin of conviction for Chief Justice Renato Corona when he became the 16^th senator Tuesday to find him “guilty” of violating the Constitution by failing to disclose his Statement of Assets and Liabilities and Networth (SALN).

Revilla’s vote was the required two-thirds vote needed in the Senate, acting as an impeachment court, to convict the chief justice.

“I have heard all the arguments and considered all the pieces of evidence. I heard directly from the honorable chief justice himself. Napakahirap man, alang-alang sa pagkakaisa at paghilom ng ating bayan, I vote guilty.”
