Mandaue Business Movement kicks off on Aug. 6
THE Mandaue Chamber of Commerce and Industry is gearing up for August activities of the Mandaue Business Movement (MBM).
Stanley Go, chairman of the MBM 2010, said yesterday that final preparations for different activities would kick off this August with the theme “Transformation through Innovation.”
An “Eco Walk” will be held on Aug. 6, where Fine Arts students of the University of San Carlos will take on fashion using eco-friendly and indigenous materials.
The Search for Model Barangays on Waste Management will be launched on the same day.
The One Cebu Business and Sustainability Summit will follow on Aug. 9 at the Cebu International Convention Center where experts will discuss ways to create a sustainable economy.
From Aug. 19 to Aug. 22, innovations and alternative technologies will be showcased in the “Outstanding Ventures and New Technological Alternatives” or “Ovanta.”
Article continues after this advertisementAnother highlight is the Search for ‘WINNERS,’ which stands for ‘Women in Need, Now Entrepreneurs and Role models.’
Article continues after this advertisementIn this search, one mother will be chosen from each of the 27 Mandaue barangays.
They will be given additional capital, training and mentorship as well as free beauty makeovers.
“This is our way of recognizing women who are role models at home and in the community,” said Go of Virginia Food Inc.
Go was reelected as trustee in the MCCI’ board during yesterday’s general membership meeting at the Oakwood Pavilion.
The other reelected trustees were Philip Tan of Wellmade Motors Development Co., Brian Chua of Suzuki Auto Cebu, Edgar Allan Po of Winner Plastic Co., Vicky Dy of Adnetwork, Donato Busa of DMC Busa Printers, and Michelle Co of RCBC.
The MCCI trustees will be responsible for creating and directing strategies to steer the sustainable growth of Mandaue’s business community.
Chamber member Jenny Franco of TravelVision said that she would expect the BOT to possess the right leadership skills to unify members and accomplish the projects of the chamber. Correspondent Patricia Andrea Pateña
