Heavy rainfall warning up in Quezon, Laguna and Batangas

MANILA, Philippines — The provinces of Quezon, Laguna and Batangas will experience heavy rainfall on Christmas morning due to the shear line, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

Pagasa’s 8 a.m. heavy rainfall advisory said a yellow warning was raised over these provinces, where 7.5 to 15 millimeters of rain is expected to prevail in the next two hours.

The state weather agency advised of community awareness where flooding is possible in flood-prone areas.

Pagasa also noted that light to moderate rains are expected in the following areas for the next three hours:

  • Nueva Ecija
  • Pampanga
  • Bataan
  • Zambales
  • Tarlac

Meanwhile, light to moderate rains with occasional heavy rains are already affecting the following areas, and this condition may continue in the next three hours:

  • Rizal
  • Metro Manila
  • Cavite
  • Bulacan

Pagasa said in its 4 a.m. weather forecast that the shear line, or the convergence of warm and cold winds, will dump rains over most parts of central Luzon.

On the other hand, most parts of Luzon will experience rains due to the northeast monsoon, or “amihan.”
