Missing 20-year-old man found dead in Sorsogon
SANTA MAGDALENA, Sorsogon — A 20-year-old man who went missing on Sunday, Dec. 22, was found dead and floating in the waters off this town Monday.
The Santa Magdalena Police told the Inquirer that Rainhealed Domingo was swept by big waves while he was exploring the beach in a resort in Barangay (village) San Sebastian, causing him to drown and disappear.
Domingo was initially reported missing at 11 a.m. on Sunday, but his body was only retrieved by rescuers on Monday morning within the resort’s vicinity.
The report said Domingo drowned while in the company of his 22-year-old brother, Reyjel, who survived after he was rescued.

Article continues after this advertisementThe two siblings had no intention of swimming and were only wading in the shallow portion of the beach when big waves hit them, the police said.
Article continues after this advertisementReyjel was brought to a hospital in the nearby town of Matnog and is now undergoing medication, while his brother’s remains were already turned over to their family.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Santa Magdalena, who assisted in search and rescue operations, said in a separate phone interview that they had to temporarily suspend the operations on Sunday evening to “ensure the safety of the rescuers.”
The Santa Magdalena Police said their investigation found “no foul play” in the incident.
