Southern Leyte rallies behind senatorial bet Singson, lauds his projects
Southern Leyte rolled out the red carpet for senatorial candidate Chavit Singson as Governor Mian Mercado expressed his admiration for Singson’s game-changing projects.
With a track record that reads like a wish list for Filipinos, Singson’s initiatives are striking a chord, especially in Southern Leyte.
Take the jeepney modernization program, for instance; it’s a project that feels tailor-made for hardworking drivers. The initiative gives drivers access to e-jeepneys, modernizing public transport without adding financial burdens.
“No collateral, no down payment, no interest? This isn’t just a program; it’s a lifeline for our transport workers,” Mercado said.
But Chavit’s ambitions don’t stop at wheels. His Banko ng Masa addresses a pressing issue: 77% of Filipinos lack bank accounts, and 95% don’t own credit cards.

Mercado sees this as a lifeline for Southern Leyteños, many of whom struggle to make ends meet.
“This is hope in action,” he said, stressing the lasting impact this could have on her province.
Mayoral candidate Ina Mercado was equally elated about Singson’s visit, expressing her gratitude for his evident love for their province.
“With Chavit Singson, we’re not just getting a senator, we’re gaining a champion for the Filipino people. I’ll make sure Southern Leyte makes him number one,” she vowed.
Southern Leyte’s full-throated support for Singson is a testament to his practical solutions to age-old problems. Whether it’s a smoother ride for jeepney drivers, a financial boost for unbanked Filipinos, or a reliable income for those who need it most, Singson’s vision resonates deeply.
As the elections draw closer, Southern Leyte is proving that support for Chavit isn’t just political, it’s personal. After all, when a leader promises meaningful change, it’s hard not to get on board.
