MANILA, Philippines — The cloud cluster being monitored outside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) may develop into a low pressure area (LPA), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said on Saturday.

In its 4 p.m. weather forecast, weather specialist Ana Clauren-Jorda said that the possible formation of an LPA may affect a portion of Mindanao.

“Sa kasalukuyan, wala tayong minomonitor na low pressure area o bagyo na posibleng makaapekto sa ating bansa pero may minomonitor po tayo na cloud cluster sa labas ng ating area of responsibility,” said Clauren-Jorda.

Meanwhile, Clauren-Jorda said that the shear line, or the convergence of cold and warm winds, continues to affect the northern Luzon area. This brings cloudy skies with light to moderate rains in portions of Quezon and Bicol region.

The northeast monsoon, locally known as “amihan,” continues to affect the rest of Luzon while portions of Cagayan Valley, Aurora, and the Cordillera Administrative Region will experience cloudy skies with light to moderate rains.
