Armed group fires on military vehicle in Basilan; 2 soldiers wounded
PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur — A military vehicle of the Army’s 45th Infantry Battalion was fired upon by a local armed group in Al-Barka town, Basilan province on Tuesday morning, injuring two soldiers.
Brig. Gen. Alvin Luzon, commander of the Army’s 101st Infantry Brigade, said they are still identifying the local armed group whose members fired on the soldiers.
The troops, according to Luzon, were on their way to a medical mission in Akbar town.

He added that based on initial reports they gathered, the two soldiers only suffered minor wounds while the military vehicle they were on bore damages from gunshots.
Luzon said they have coordinated with the leadership of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front leaders in the area to identify the “lawless elements” responsible for the attack.
