MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) evacuated 700 families in Aparri, Cagayan due to heavy rainfall and strong winds triggered by Typhoon Marce (International name: Yinxing) on Thursday.

At least 4,912 families were evacuated across Cagayan, its Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office previously reported.

Marce made landfall at Santa Ana, Cagayan, at 3:40 p.m. on Thursday, then again in Sanchez-Mira, Cagayan, at 9:30 p.m. later that day, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

As of 11:00 a.m. on Friday, Merce was located some 165 kilometers west of Laoag City, Ilocos Norte, moving west-southwest at 20 kilometers per hour.

Pagasa said Merce will exit the Philippine area of responsibility by Friday afternoon or evening.
