Gwen set to join PDP Laban?

CEBU Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia may take her oath today as a new member of the PDP Laban in Manila.

Garcia, who already announced her intention to run for senator in the next election, will be in Manila today for a meeting with PDP Laban chairman, Vice President Jejomar Binay.

An ANC report yesterday said that Rep. Mitos Magsaysay, who also plans to run for the Senate, will take her oath as PDP-Laban member together with Garcia.

The ANC news alert described Garcia and Magsaysay as two lady supporters of former president Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

Reached for comment, Garcia’s father, Rep. Pablo Garcia (Cebu 2nd district), said he was not aware of this development.

But he said that if his daughter joins the PDP Laban, it wouldn’t necessarily mean that One Cebu party members would also take their oaths as members of PDP-Laban.

Lawyer Rory Jon Sepulveda, Governor Garcia’s spokesman, refused to comment on the news report.

He only confirmed that governor would be in Manila today to meet with Binay./Correspondent Jhunnex Napallacan
