Hiroshi leads semis cast of Interclub football tilt

Hiroshi Football Club, ERCO FC-PTT and the San Roque Football Club (SRFC) all advanced to the semifinal round of the men’s Open of the 12th Cebu Interclub Football Cup at the University of San Carlos Technological Center (USC-TC) football field.

ERCO and Hiroshi FC shared the top of bracket A with identical nine points which is equivalent to a win-draw-loss record of 3-0-1.

ERCO notched its third straight win at the expense of FCIC, 5-1.

FCIC still has one more match against Hijos Del Pueblo today in the same venue. The game however, is non bearing.

Despite that, Hijos could end its stint with a win after bowing to Camella FC, 4-1, yesterday.

The last semis slot will be disputed by Queen City United (QCU) and Don Bosco United (DBU) FC in bracket B. The top spot is already secured by SRFC after winning all three of its elimination matches.

Although QCU currently leads DBU FC with four points based on a 1-1-1 card, DBU FC has a chance of contesting the remaining semifinals spot against QCU as it still has one match today against Southwestern University (SWU).

Should DBU FC win this match, it will hold the same 1-1-1 card as that of QCU and the contest for the last Final 4 slot will be based on goal difference.

However, should DBU FC fail, QCU will advance to the semis by finishing second in bracket B.

In the 40 and Above, SRFC reaffirmed its hold of the top spot after stretching its win to three with a 4-1 thrashing of Baliant Hawk UTD.

Hiroshi FC is in second place after claiming its second win via a, 7-0 routing of QCU-B.

In bracket B of the boys 17, the Cebu Team took the No.1 spot after Abellana National School (ANS) Pomeroy defaulted their match yesterday.

Both teams, however, still marched to the crossover semis with ANS securing the No.2 spot despite the default.

In bracket A, Springdale FC and Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu also made the semifinals cast with Springdale toting a 3-1-0 record which relates to 10 points.

The Magis Eagle, on the other hand, will play Ormoc FC today and whatever the result, they still advanced to the semis because it already holds a 2-1-0 record equivalent to seven points.

Ormoc, meanwhile, is already out of the running even if it wins today since it will only have six points.
