PNP to dispatch over 18,000 cops for Undas

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) will dispatch 18,802 personnel nationwide for the observance of this year’s All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day or Undas.

PNP spokesperson Brig. Gen. Jean Fajardo said the cops will be deployed to major thoroughfares starting October 31.

“Around 18,802 will be deployed, including those who will be dispatched to police assistance desks and transport terminals to assist residents who will be traveling,” Fajardo said in a press briefing on Monday.

The PNP will also dispatch its revitalized pulis sa barangay to patrol residential areas.

Fajardo also advised the public to secure their homes while on vacation.

“Those leaving their homes, ask your relatives to keep the house, make sure it is locked to prevent robbery, and if the budget allows, install an alarm system or CCTV,” she said in Filipino.

Fajardo reminded the public to be alert, keep police hotlines in case of emergency, and refrain from publicly posting their whereabouts.

In the National Capital Region, the Manila North and South Cemeteries will be open from October 30 to November 3 from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Based on an advisory issued by the Manila government, vehicles will not be allowed inside the cemeteries, while burials and cremations will be temporarily suspended during the said dates.
