Dengue-related deaths reach 15 in Negros Occidental — health office

BACOLOD CITY – The number of deaths due to dengue in Negros Occidental this year has reached 15.
The Provincial Health Office reported on Friday, Oct. 25, that there were 5,108 dengue cases in Negros Occidental from Jan. 1 to Oct. 19, 2024.
The figure is 3,837 cases or 301.89 percent higher than the 1,271 cases over the same period in 2023.
Bago City still has the highest number of dengue cases at 560, followed by Hinoba-an with 404 cases, San Carlos – 394, Sagay City – 331, Talisay City – 323, Kabankalan City – 321, Cauayan – 289, Cadiz City – 279, Silay City – 276 and Sipalay City – 273.
The report said most of the dengue cases were within the 11 to 20 years old age group.

The dengue virus is transmitted by day biting Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus mosquitoes.
