MANILA, Philippines — Moderate to heavy rain with lightning and strong winds are expected in Laguna, Rizal and Batangas  on Monday afternoon, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

In a thunderstorm advisory issued at 1:42 p.m., Pagasa said that “moderate to heavy rain showers with lightning and strong winds are expected over Laguna, Rizal, and Batangas within the next 2 hours.”

In its 11 a.m. bulletin, the weather bureau reported that Tropical Depression Kristine maintained its strength as it crossed the Philippine Sea.

It was also forecast “to intensify into a tropical storm in the next 12 hours” and may intensify into a typhoon category by Thursday or Friday.
