Tolentino is new Cavite governor
MANILA – Vice Gov. Athena Bryana Tolentino on Tuesday became the new governor of Cavite province.
Tolentino took her oath as the province’s top official in Tagaytay City, replacing Jonvic Remulla, who was named by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. as the new secretary of the Department of the Interior and Local Government.
Tolentino, 26, is among the youngest public servants. She won the vice gubernatorial race in the 2022 polls, after serving as city councilor of Tagaytay City from 2019 to 2022. She was the first female vice governor and the first female governor of Cavite.
She is the daughter of Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) chair and Tagaytay Mayor Abraham Tolentino and the niece of Senator Francis Tolentino.
The younger Tolentino vowed to continue Remulla’s programs and projects.
