Justice Sec. Remulla confirms brother’s appointment as DILG chief
MANILA, Philippines–“Coordination and commitment can be made instantly,” Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla said as he confirmed that his brother, Cavite Governor Jonvic Remulla will be the incoming secretary of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).
Remulla will be replacing Benjamin “Benhur” Abalos Jr. who is eyeing a Senate seat.
Sec. Remulla said his brother is “scheduled to have an oath-taking tomorrow. In fact, I think he’s withdrawing from candidacy as we speak.”
Sec. Remulla said he welcomes his brother’s appointment as this would greatly contribute to the improvement of the country’s justice system, noting that the DILG, the Department of Justice along with the Supreme Court are all part of the Justice Sector Coordinating Council (JSCC).
“The commitments can be made instantly because the two of us can always talk about what has to be done. There will be better coordination,” Sec. Remulla said.
