INQFocus researcher, writer wins best stats report award from PSA

MANILA, Philippines—Cristina Eloisa Baclig of INQUIRER.net was recognized by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) on Tuesday, Oct. 1, as it opened the celebration of the 35th National Statistics Month.

Baclig, a content researcher and writer for INQUIRER.net’s INQFOCUS team, won the award for best statistical reporting in print/online media for her report “More people are leaving Metro Manila. Here’s why”.

The report, which was published on July 8, highlighted how people continued to leave Metro Manila for other regions even when COVID-19 restrictions had already been lifted.

INQFocus researcher, writer wins best stats report award from PSA

Baclig received the award in Quezon City, where the National Statistics Month Media Awards was held. Bernadette Reyes of GMA Integrated News likewise won the award for best statistical reporting in TV and broadcast media.

According to the PSA, the award is given to recognize the significant role and contribution of media in promoting and popularizing official statistical information by way of featuring data or statistics and other products and services from the Philippine Statistical System.

Before this, Baclig already bagged recognitions from the Bright Leaf Agriculture Journalism Awards for her reports on vaping and Think Pink Awards for her reports about cancer.

BusinessWorld Research won the award for best media statistical infographic.
