Bomb threat disrupts hearings at Pasig City Hall of Justice

MANILA, Philippines — A bomb threat disrupted hearings at the Pasig City Hall of Justice on Tuesday morning, according to the police.

In a report sent to journalists, Pasig Police chief Col. Hendrix Mangaldan said the clerk of court received the bomb scare via email at 8:45 a.m.

Upon receiving the report, the police immediately responded to the facility and evacuated all employees from the building, Mangaldan said.

“Around 9:20 a.m. [the area] was declared clear by our PNP K9/EOD (K9/Explosive Ordnance Disposal),” he added.

Asked if the threat came from Japanese lawyer Takahiro Karasawa, an alleged sender reportedly responsible for the previous bomb scares, Mangaldan said “No.”

“The email source is being investigated by the PNP Cybercrime Group,” he clarified.

The PNP reminded the public that spreading false information or making threats related to bombs, explosives, or similar devices is prohibited under Presidential Decree 1727.

Violators of the decree may face severe penalties, including up to five years of imprisonment or a fine not exceeding P40,000.
