VP Duterte impeachment not tackled by leaders of Congress – Escudero
MANILA, Philippines — Rumors about an impeachment complaint against Vice President Sara Duterte were not tackled by the leaders of the Senate and the House of Representatives when they convened for the Legislative Executive Development Advisory Council meeting on Wednesday.
“Hindi napag-usapan at all. Kahit anong words na sounds like,” Senate President Francis Escudero told reporters in an ambush interview when he was asked about the matter.
(It wasn’t tackled at all or any words that sounded like it.)
House leaders earlier admitted to being frustrated with Duterte’s refusal to adhere to the lower chamber’s scrutiny of the Office of the Vice President’s budget, but they clarified that there are no attempts on their part to impeach her.

Meanwhile, Senator Ronald Dela Rosa, a close friend of the Dutertes, said it would be beyond the Senate’s control if the House lawmakers decide to file an impeachment complaint against the Vice President.

(But when the complaint reaches us, we will decide on it because it is our job to judge that impeachment complaint against the Vice President.)
“We will shoot the ball when we have the ball,” he added.
