Cloud clusters east of Luzon have become a low-pressure area

MANILA, Philippines — The cloud clusters east of Luzon have developed into a low-pressure area (LPA) as of 8 a.m.

In a Facebook post, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said it monitored the LPA some 440 kilometers east of Casiguran, Aurora.

Earlier Sunday, the state weather bureau reported that it spotted cloud clusters outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility that may likely have circulation within 24 to 48 hours.

On the other hand, the southwest monsoon, locally known as habagat, will continue to bring rain in most parts of the country throughout the day and for the rest of the week.

“This whole week, patuloy pa ring makakaapekto ang habagat at magdudulot ng mga pagulan Southern Luzon, Visayas at western section ng Mindanao,” Pagasa weather specialist Grace Castañeda said.

(This whole week, habagat will continue to bring rain in Southern Luzon, Visayas and the western section of Mindanao.)

Meanwhile, Pagasa raised a gale warning in the following areas, which are expected to have strong waves as high as 3.7 to 4.5 meters:
